Fifth Grade

Ready. Set. Graduate!

Where did all the time go? Seems like just yesterday we were changing diapers, and now we're fundraising to send our fifth graders off in style.

5th Grade Events & Activities

There are several events and activities that are specific to 5th Grade and while they may look different this year, we hope to make them as special as possible.

We are planning on the following for the coming year:

• Yearbook — Each student receives a copy of the yearbook. In addition, student photos will be displayed in the 5th Grade Hallway in the last month/weeks of school as part of a Photo Guessing Contest.

• Class T-shirts — Each student receives a t-shirt designed to commemorate their final year at KP. T-shirts are worn during the Class Picture and during Field Trips.

• Panoramic Class Photo — Each student receives a free copy of a panoramic photo of the entire 5th Grade (distributed at Promotion Ceremony). 

• Class Gift given to KP from the 5th Grade.

• Class-wide Halloween and Valentine’s Day Parties — In addition, we will deliver a goody bag to every student’s locker during each party.

Anticipated Events

• Field Trip(s) — TBD. Organized by the school. The 5th Grade Committee provides snacks for the students, teachers, and chaperones.

• Visit to North Bethesda Middle School

• DJ Dance Party — A fun night of dancing, games, and prizes only for the 5th Grade class. The party usually takes place in the APR/Gym towards the end of the school year.

• Class Picnic — Held during the school day towards the end of the school year. A rain date is also scheduled. The picnic typically includes eating lunch outside, activities, treats, and signing yearbooks.

• Clap Out — This is a KP tradition. The 5th Grade students walk down the hallway for the last time. Students and teachers in lower grades stand outside their classrooms and clap for the departing students.

• Promotion Ceremony — A graduation-type ceremony is planned with light refreshments afterwards and a slideshow to commemorate their 6 years at KP. All parents and loved ones are invited.

One-Time Parent Contribution

5th Grade Families are asked to consider giving a one-time student activity fee of $75 ($45 for 5th Grade activities and $30 for class contributions for class parties, teacher appreciation, etc.). This will help provide all of the great benefits listed above to every KP 5th Grader!
