Q: How do I respond to messages?
If you want your response to go to the entire list of KP-Eaglenet members,
you can simply "reply" to the email. If you want to respond just to the
person who sent the message to the list-serv, you should be sure to just
list that person's email in the addressee (To:) field of the email. This can be
an important distinction, based on the content and nature of your reply.
Q: Do you "screen" emails before they go onto Eaglenet, like some middle and
high schools do?
A: No - fortunately, the KP community does not post off-topic or
inappropriate messages, so there has been no need.
Q: Can I put message delivery on hold while I'm away and unable to check
email?
A: Yes, go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kp-eaglenet (make sure you're
signed in, or if you haven't ever signed in, choose a login ID and password
to go with your email address). Once you get to the Eaglenet homepage,
click on "My Groups" in the upper right corner. Click "Edit My Groups" on
the left. Under "Message Delivery" select "No Email" from the drop-down
menu. Click the "Save Changes" button. As a member, you can always view
messages by going to the Eaglenet homepage.
Q: Why hasn't a message I sent to the group appeared on the web site or in
my email box?
A: First, make sure you've sent your message to the correct address. To
post a message on Eaglenet, send to kp-eaglenet@yahoogroups.com. The next
most common error is sending your message from an email address other than
the one you used to register for Eaglenet. If you've ruled out these two
common errors, there may be a temporary backup or problem with your internet
service provider. Email Darin at bartram3515@verizon.net and he'll be happy
to post your message for you.
Q: What are the posting guidelines for Eaglenet?
A: Info about KP school activities, PTA activities, MCPS issues that
directly impact KP students, extracurricular activities or community events
that directly involve KP students. Generally, use your good judgment.
Q: Can a KP family have more than one membership on Eaglenet?
A: Yes, some families have requested that both parents have Eaglenet
memberships, and in some cases, individuals have requested memberships for
both their home and work emails. Please let Darin know if you wish to do
this.
Q: What should I do if I change to a different internet service or would
like to change my Eaglenet email address?
A: Follow these steps--
- First, add your NEW email address by going to the Eaglenet homepage at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kp-eaglenet.
- Make sure you're signed in, then click on "My Account" at the top of
the page (right underneath "Welcome, _____").
- Look for "Member Information" and click the teeny tiny "edit" button
to the right of "Member Information".
- Add your new email address as an Alternate Email Address and click
"Finished".
- Click back into that tiny "edit" button to the right of "Member
Information".
- Click on the "Non-verified" link, and follow the instructions given to
verify the new email address.
- Once you've got that new email address verified, you can go to the "My
Groups" link from the eaglenet homepage.
- Click "Edit My Groups" and use the drop down menus to select the
appropriate email address for each group. Don't forget to click "Save
Changes" when you're done.
Q: After I've added one or more email addresses to my Yahoo groups account,
how do I change my subscription address for Eaglenet (or any other group I
may belong to)?
A: Follow these steps--
- Go to My Groups
- Click on Edit My Groups
- Use the drop-down menus to select the appropriate email address for
each group, and click on "Save Changes".
Q: After you've added a new email address, how do I remove an old email
address?
A: Go to My Preferences and click on the "Edit" button to the right of
"Email Addresses". Click on the "Remove" link to the right of the email
address you no longer want to use.
